If the air conditioner in your Fort Myers, Florida, home isn’t working properly, your comfort will suffer. Here are the following AC problems that should prompt you to call your HVAC company:
Your AC Stops Working
One of the most obvious signs of a problem is your AC unit stops working. The first thing to do is to check the batteries in your thermostat. Also, make sure the thermostat is set to cooling mode. Next, check your breaker and make sure it’s in the on position. If none of these solutions rectify the problem, it’s time to contact an HVAC technician.
The Air Coming Out Isn’t Cold
Is the air that’s coming out of your vents warm? First, check to make sure your air filter isn’t dirty or clogged. If it is, you should replace it. You should also check your thermostat settings and inspect your outdoor unit for any noticeable branches crowding it or debris caught in it. If you still aren’t feeling cold air, contact your HVAC company. You could have low refrigerant levels, leaky ductwork or a failing component.
You’re Hearing Strange Noises
Noises coming from your AC unit are often a sign that it needs to be repaired. Screeching or squealing noises can indicate a problem with the blower motor, bad bearings or a faulty or improperly lubricated belt. Rattling, clanging, thumping, or banging could mean that your motor or blower assembly need to be repaired. Flapping noises are often a sign that something is stuck in the housing unit surrounding the blower or something is interfering with the blower blade rotation.
